Last month, I participated in a 20 day session of the Adventure Boot Camp for Women. It was rocky, it was hard and it was rewarding. I think it’s perhaps one of the hardest months I’ve ever had. But, I’m here to tell you. I drank the koolaid. Yep, that’s right, I signed back up for another session. I can’t wait to see what awaits me starting this coming Monday at 5:30 am.
I started out only using my 5lb weight and occasionally used my 8lb weight. By the end of the session, I was using my 8lb weight and my 10lb weight and rarely used my 5lb weight. One day I did 100 push ups. I ran; I burpeed; I planked; I plain just did many things I didn’t think I would ever do or could ever do. And I enjoyed doing some of them (a sprinter I will never be). I realized that I could do these things and that they were helping me. At first, though, I couldn’t do them. I really struggled. And so this is why I’m going back. Improvement to me was obvious. As a woman, I need to have strong muscles as I age – I’ve known this, but have done nothing about it. Now that I’ve discovered this camp, there’s really no turning back or excuses to not continue.
I didn’t lose any weight and I didn’t lose any inches but I decreased my body fat by almost 1%. That doesn’t sound like much, but when you start where I started, 1% is huge and it’s going in the right direction. Do I wish it were better/more? yes, but I’m going to take it and move on from here. The passes are for first time campers only and expire on 12/31/2012.
