Bluegrass for Babies Returns to Sawyer Point September 19 – Giveaway

September 4, 2015 By FFCStaff

bluegrass babies465Bluegrass music, kid-friendly activities, local food, craft beer & a fundraiser for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Sounds like a great afternoon! Grab your friends for the Healthy Roots Foundation’s 7th annual Bluegrass for Babies concert, returning to Sawyer Point from 3-9pm on Saturday, September 19.

This year’s concert features performances from local bluegrass bands Comet Bluegrass All-Stars and Hickory Robot, as well as Pennsylvania band Cabinet. The music is always great (and perfect for the kiddos to show off their dance moves), and this year will be no exception. Cabinet was actually named one of the 10 New Country Artists You Need to Know in 2015 by Rolling Stone this year, so you’re in for a treat!

bluegrass babies84There are also plenty of exhibitors with activities to keep the kids entertained throughout the afternoon. A few that caught our eye are the Healthy Hands Cooking Demo by The Learning Spoon (space for 8-10 participants ages 6-13, the registration is online), a kid sized Farmers Market and Play Garden from Green BEAN Delivery, toxin-free hair chalking, touch-a-truck from Cohen USA, mock cover photos by Cincinnati Parent, and a musical petting zoo. Those are only a few of the awesome things for the kids to do!

Because walking around and dancing to bluegrass music will make you hungry, Eli’s BBQ, Mazunte, and Dewey’s Pizza will be at the concert in the food court. Parents even have their own area – a beer garden featuring craft beer from Mad Tree and Mt. Carmel in Cincinnati and Warped Wing Brewery from Dayton.

bluegrass babies483If all that wasn’t enough to get you interested, the entire event is a fundraiser for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Since the concerts started in 2009, The Healthy Roots Foundation has raised nearly $130,000 for the Perinatal Institute. This year, the money raised at the concert is going to help fund a study at the Center for Prevention of Preterm Birth that seeks to understand the effects of ground and air pollution on pregnancy outcomes.

TICKETS

Tickets for the Bluegrass for Babies benefit concert are $15 for adults in advance and $20 day of, with children 12 and under admitted for free. Presale period ends Friday, September 18, 2015 at 10:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased at www.bluegrassforbabies.com.

This year the Healthy Roots Foundation has added a group ticket option. You can gather your friends and family to buy tickets for $12 each until September 17. The top three teams will enjoy additional perks (such as exclusive kids activities) and special recognition at the 2015 Bluegrass for Babies concert.
