Helping Students Prepare for College

March 24, 2015 By FFCStaff

2015-01-15_001 (1)If you have a high school student at home chances are the thought of college has crossed your mind a few times. It’s a long process that should start well before your student takes the ACT or SAT their junior year. Luckily there is a local company, NaviGo College and Career Prep Services, that has several programs to help you and your student find success on the path to college and career.

Very few students know exactly what they want to do and how to get there. More often, teenagers have an idea of what they’d like to do, but aren’t quite sure what the path is, or they have no clue where they’d like to go. That’s the idea behind one of NaviGo’s newest programs –NaviGo Prime. NaviGo coaches work with students to discover their passions, strengths, and skills, and discover how they match with potential career paths. The program is quick – all of this happens in just three sessions.

Finding a path is just the first step, continuing on it can be just as challenging. For families who want guidance along the way, NaviGo offers college and career coaching services. Students are paired with a coach who helps NaviGo Kevinthem continue on their path by creating goals that build a strong foundation for success. Planning ahead ensures your child is taking the right classes and making the grades to get into their first choice college. Throughout the NaviGo process, coaches work with students to identify what they want out of college, and what the best fit would be. Additionally they help with the application process and identify potential scholarship options.

The other major part of the process is taking the tests. Preparing for the ACT can be overwhelming, especially when students aren’t getting feedback. NaviGo recently partnered with Method Test Prep and offers ACT prep services for just $99. For a full year, students have access to practice tests, short drills, feedback, and test taking tips to help them succeed.

If your student doesn’t need help on the whole test, but is struggling with the math portion (we know it’s the hardest part!), NaviGo has Academic Math Coaching with classes to prepare for the June 13 ACT beginning on April 20.

If you think any of these programs would help your family and your student through the college application process, we encourage you to visit www.NaviGoPrep.com to learn more about their programs.
