Tom+Chee 2.0 Grand Reopening at Newport on the Levee

April 22, 2014 By Shannanb

tom+cheeCincinnati’s favorite grilled cheese restaurant, Tom+Chee invites you to bring the family to its Newport on the Levee location to see what they’ve done with the place. T+C is celebrating the renovation of its Newport store with a Grand Reopening on Sat., April 26 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The day will be filled with kid-friendly entertainment, a raffle benefiting Awesome Fathers Taking Roles (AFTR), and the unveiling of T+C’s newest grilled cheese donut, the Choco Bacon Bliss (bacon +chocolate pieces+mozzarella+chocolate mascarpone+donut).

Tom+Chee welcomes its new neighbor at Newport on the Levee, Wizards Magic Theater, who along with Ludlow, KY-based Circus Mojo will be providing entertainment during the afternoon.

Tom and Chee FoodRaffle prizes including T+C merchandise will be awarded throughout the day capped by a 5:55 p.m. drawing for the Grand Prize package: a hotel stay at Comfort Suites in Newport, tickets to the Newport Aquarium, and gift cards to Tom+Chee. All raffle proceeds will be donated to Awesome Fathers Taking Roles as part of Tom+Chee’s The Grilled Cheese That Cares initiative. Raffle tickets will be sold at all Cincinnati area Tom+Chee locations beginning April 22.

AFTR-Logo_web1AFTR is a non-profit dedicated to “educating fathers and male role models in the homes of children with special needs to enhance the family unit in the special needs communities,” started two years ago by Mark Walker, whose daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Cornelia de Lang syndrome daughter. The organization’s primary annual event is “Dance With My Daddy”, a special evening out for dads and their children with special needs at which it also gives away grant money to most of the families to assist with costly medical bills that are often associated with having a child with special needs.

When the Levee T+C opened in 2011 in a former burrito restaurant, founders Corey Ward and Trew Quackenbush did little more to the space than clean and paint. The renovated Newport on the Levee Tom+Chee will make it the company’s flagship location and serve as a design and branding model for T+C franchise locations opening across the country.
