Art Shows, Art Shows Everywhere!

April 20, 2011 By Shannanb

You may have noticed an arts trend with me here on Family Friendly Cincinnati. Working for an arts organization, and knowing how important it is to expose my children to the different types  – theatre, visual, etc.,  I am always on the look out for arts activities we can experience together.

As such I wanted to share with you four really great art fairs coming up –> Spring Pottery Fair (May 7), the Duveneck Memorial Art Show (May 8 ), Wyoming Art Show (May 15) and Summerfair (June 3,4,5).  All of these would make for a great afternoon and would allow your children to interact with artists and see their works.

Clay Alliance Spring Pottery Fair

Coming up on May 7th is the return of the annual Spring Pottery Fair, which showcases the work of more than 60 of greater Cincinnati’s top clay artists. The event takes place at DeSales Corner on Woodburn Avenue at Madison Road in East Walnut Hills and attendees can shop from a HUGE selection of pottery – all may by local artists. This is another great event that I donate my time too and think you’ll love!

Spring Pottery Fair runs from 11am to 5pm — rain or shine and there is no admission charge and parking is free.  During the Fair artists will be demonstrating pottery making and there will also be art displays by area school students.  To add to the fun, Jake Speed and the Freddies will be there performing from noon to 3pm.

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, you can learn more about the Spring Pottery Fair, on the Clay Alliance website, www.clayalliance.org.

Duveneck Memorial Art Show

The 43rd Annual Duveneck Memorial Art Show takes place Sunday, May 8 (Mother’s Day) from noon – 5pm at George Rogers Clark Park on Riverside Drive in Covington, Kentucky.

This juried show features the sale of original works of regional artists in four categories – painting, sculpture, graphics and fine crafts – and is sponsored by the Northern Kentucky Heritage League, a non-profit organization made up of Northern Kentucky citizens who are interested in art, historic preservation and the cultural advancement of the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area.

The show is free and open to the public and will also have live music. For further information call (859) 653-7797 (Rain date Sunday, May 15).

26th Annual Wyoming Art Show

The 26th Annual Wyoming Art Show takes place May 15, 2011 from 11am – 5pm in Wyoming, Ohio. The one day event features more than 100 artists selling jewelry, paintings, pottery, photography, metal, fiber arts and more. In addition to the great art, there will be plenty of free children’s art activities, food vendors and a student art exhibit with more than 500 works of art created by students in grades K – 12.

The Wyoming Art Show is free to attend. For more information and directions,  visit www.wyomingartshow.com.

Summerfair 2011

Summerfair returns for its 44th year  June 3, 4 and 5 and I am super excited as it will be my eighth year working out at Coney Island and helping with the fair! Summerfair will feature more than 300 artists and craftspeople from around the country as well as regional performers, a variety of gourmet arts, and a Youth Arts Rocks! area for kids.

Among the multitude of activities occurring at the fair, and my children’s favorite part, the Youth Arts Rock! area is a special place featuring hands-on activities for kids including t-shirt design and hand painted flowerpots, as well as jugglers, magicians, face painters and other kid-friendly entertainment.

Tickets are just $10.00 with children 12 and under admitted free. Advance one day, or multi-day tickets are available online by clicking here.  Hours for the fair are 2 to 8pm Friday; 10am to 8pm Saturday; and 10am to 5pm Sunday. Parking is included in the ticket price. The fair will be held rain or shine. Complete details for Summerfair can be found on its website.

The concept is uniquely outlined. You absolutely have brilliant abilities.
Seeing how well-clarified the study is, it undoubtedly took a considerable amount of
