Howl-o-Ween Costumed Dog Parade at the VOA – October 17

September 23, 2010 By FFCStaff

It’s the season for dressing up and if your kids are like mine, they will dress up in costume any chance they get.  But if you add on dressing up the dog, then their “I’m having fun” meter goes up a notch.  We got to visit the International  Bacon Day Dog Festival in Blue Ash recently and my girls loved it.  Now, even  though we couldn’t bring our girl, Bailey (she doesn’t like to meet new doggie friends), we had so much fun seeing and petting other four legged friends that we didn’t miss her too much. While there the girls even bought Bailey her first Halloween costume and she’s been getting some good use out of it.

Now, there’s another great dog event coming up at the Metro Parks of Butler County’s Voice of America Park.  It’s  the Howl-o-Ween dog fest on Sunday, October 17 and your dogs can participate in a costumed dog parade. Here’s some info from their press release:

“It is time to show off all “haute” dogs in the inaugural “Howl-O-Ween” costumed dog parade to be held on Sunday, October 17th at the MetroParks of Butler County VOA Lodge in West Chester Township. Owners and their pampered pooches are encouraged to dress in costume for the parade to be eligible for awards such as Best Costume of pet and owner, Best theme for multiple dogs, the Judge’s Selection or best costume for small and large dogs. This event promises to provide fun for all and there will be food andbeverages available to purchase for 2 and 4-legged friends. All proceeds benefit the Wiggly Field Dog Park Fund at the Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty. Get crazy and creative in designing the costumes… just be sure to keep the costumes safe and comfortable for your pet! Registration will be held from 2-3pm and the parade and judging are scheduled from 3-4pm. Admission and registration are free but a motor vehicle permit is required. (There is a $3/daily special event permit available on that day) All dogs must be on a leash while in the park.”
