Just over a week ago, The Krohn Conservatory in Eden Park opened the 2017 International Butterfly show, The Majestic Monarch. From March 25 until June 18 the show will be open every day from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for kids ages 5-17, and free for children 4 years old and younger.
This year’s show will celebrate the beauty of the majestic monarch butterflies and their amazing long journey across North America. Thousands of free-flying butterflies, of all varieties including the monarch, will fill the showroom. Experience what it’s like to be a butterfly surrounded by towering fir trees, giant flowers, and islands of color provided by the beautiful hydrangeas, marvelous marigolds, and gorgeous celosia.
Become a “Citizen Scientist” when visiting by observing which fruit nectar feeding station or which flower attracts the most butterflies. There is a lot to learn about Monarchs –– and everyone at Krohn is hoping that visitors will spread the word about the importance of creating and preserving butterfly habitats.
There are many special events happening during the Butterfly Show as well and there is enough to keep every member of the family entertained and fascinated. All events are included in the price of admission unless otherwise noted.

WHAT: Earth Day Celebration- Sponsored by Scherzinger Termite and Pest Control
WHEN: Friday, April 21 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
DETAILS: The first 300 visitors will receive a free tree seedling sponsored by both Scherzinger Termite/Pest Control and Friends of Krohn.
WHAT: Hosta, Daylily and Perennial Plant Sale
WHEN: Saturday, May 6 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
DETAILS: It’s the perfect time to plant! Choose from the large supply; a variety of stunning specimens will be offered for sale by local growers.
WHAT: Krohn Marketplace Weekend
WHEN: Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
DETAILS: Local vendors and artists will be selling a variety of earth-friendly products. The early morning hour with the butterflies is a great to visit the butterflies with your family.

WHAT: Family Nights: Butterfly Pajama Parties
WHEN: Wednesdays, May 17, 31, June 14 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
DETAILS: Visit the butterflies after regular show hours. This special time is filled with family fun activities and crafts for all ages. Family Yoga will be offering brief family-friendly yoga poses and Juice Plus and Tower Garden will be on hand with a small display offering families info/samples of these nutrition resources.
WHAT: The Cincinnati Children’s Theatre Character Day at Krohn
WHEN: Saturday May 20 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
DETAILS: Volunteers from Cincinnati Children’s Theater will be helping at the doors all day and special storybook characters will be stopping by to greet and entertain the younger visitors at the Butterfly Show.

WHEN: Saturday, June 3 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
DETAILS: It’s going to be HOT, HOT, HOT at Krohn! Hundreds of peppers will be for sale including some very unique varieties and some VERY HOT peppers. Come early as some varieties will sell out.
