THE SOUND OF MUSIC at the Aronoff

September 20, 2016 By FFCStaff

soundofmusic_1300x740It’s theatre season again in Cincinnati and we couldn’t be more excited! From Broadway in Cincinnati at the Aronoff Center, to Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati, The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati and so many more, there’s a wealth of talent in our city that bursts on to the scene this time of year and we don’t mind saying that we are thankful for every minute of it.

First up at the Aronoff? THE SOUND OF MUSIC! This well loved musical comes to the Aronoff stage and frankly, we couldn’t be more excited. I’m not ashamed to admit that I longed to play the part of Maria and find true love with the dashing Captain Von Trapp – who didn’t?! Here’s a little about the show from Broadway in Cincinnati:

Tickets are now on sale for the brand new production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, 04-thesoundofmusic-doremidirected by three-time Tony Award® winner Jack O’Brien. This lavish new production will make its Cincinnati premiere September 27 – October 9 at the Aronoff Center as part of a North American tour and Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Cincinnati’s 16/17 Season presented by TriHealth.

BEN DAVIS (Broadway’s Violet, A Little Night Music, La Bohème) will play Captain Georg von Trapp and MELODY BETTS will play The Mother Abbess with MERWIN FOARD as Max Detweiler, TERI HANSEN as Elsa Schraeder, AUSTIN COLBY as Rolf and PAIGE SILVESTER as Liesl.

And introducing Jack O’Brien’s brand new discovery, KERSTIN ANDERSON as Maria Rainer. A current student at Pace University, Ms. Anderson won the coveted role from hundreds who auditioned. This is her first national tour.

If you’ve lived in a cave for the past 50 years, and don’t know the story of the Von Trapp family singers, here’s a short synopsis:

A tuneful, heartwarming story, it is based on the real life story of the Von Trapp Family 06-thesoundofmusic-bdavis-edelweisssingers, one of the world’s best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II. Julie Andrews plays the role of Maria, the tomboyish postulant at an Austrian abbey who becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children, and brings a new love of life and music into the home.

Romance, music, dancing – we’re in! You cannot miss seeing this fantastic production while it’s in town, so be sure to get your tickets now before they are gone.

We want to help send you and your family to see this wonderful show – so head over to our Facebook page where we are giving away a FAMILY 4-PACK OF TICKETS for the September 27 show!

Tickets are available at the Aronoff Center Box Office downtown at 650 Walnut Street, online at CincinnatiArts.org or by phone at 513.621.ARTS. For more information, please visit www.TheSoundOfMusicOnTour.com.

disclosure: We were provided with a family 4-pack of tickets to give away, as well as tickets to attend the show, in exchange for sharing information about this wonderful production. All opinions expressed above are, as always, 100% our own.
