WUTW FALLIt’s finally the weekend! Pomegranate’s series of Charley Harper Nature Discovery Books offers a unique opportunity to learn about nature and to examine how an artist interprets its beauty and wonder. Free, all ages event.

 Culture Kids: Around the World ~ Cincinnati Art Museum ~ Friday (two sessions,  10 – 11:30 a.m. or 2 – 3:30 p.m) Cost: $10 per pair Art Museum Members, $20 per pair non-members; ($3/$6 for each additional person).  There will be storytelling, tours, crafts, snacks and more for children ages 2-5 and their caregiver.  Reservations required.

Purple Light Domestic Violence Awareness Month Walk    October 11, 2013 | 5:30 p.m.    Women Helping Women, YWCA of Greater Cincinnati, Cincinnati Police Department     http://purplelightwalk.eventbrite.com    National Underground Railroad Freedom Center    0    Cincinnati will host the first ever Purple Light Domestic Violence Awareness Month Walk.During the Walk, which will start and end at The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, participants will carry purple glow sticks – purple is the color of domestic violence awareness.register online at http://purplelightwalk.eventbrite.com or in person on the day of the event. Registration is free for all participants and will begin with a resource fair at 5:30 p.m., program at 6:30 p.m., and walk starting at 7 p.m.

Is that a bird or a flute? Is that a swan or a cello? Is that a fish or a piano? Come hear and find out on an adventure through our musical zoo! During PB&J performances, children are invited to sit on the floor, close to the performers, allowing them to be “part of the action.”  An educational coordinator hosts each concert, leading dances, beat patterns, songs, and question & answer sessions to guide and enhance the experience for children and their families.  At the end of the concert, we invite you to meet the performers and get an up-close introduction to their instruments.

Mayes Bluegrass Festival    October 12, 2013: 1pm – 10pm    Bellevue Neighborhood Assoc.    www.mayesfest.com    Bellevue Beach Park    FREE – Boat Tours are $10    The Bellevue Beach Park has been voted one of the top ten public parks in Greater Cincinnati for many years. Situated beautifully on the Banks of the majestic Ohio River with the Cincinnati Skyline as a back drop the park is truly the crown jewel of this community. This fall the first annual bluegrass and American roots festival will take place at Bellevue Beach Park. Music festivities will start at 2pm on the main stage featuring national, local and regional bands.Festivities will also include a variety of food, beverages and merchandise vendors. Queen City boat tours will be an additional element to the event offering 4 one hour tours up and down the Ohio River. Tour tickets will be sold in advance, and onsite, for $10 each. Ticket holders will hear live “river boat” music, have bar service and enjoy magnificent views of the Ohio and Kentucky shoreline.

You will soon know the answer when you explore the intricate stories of the Immortals in our new exhibit “Realm of the Immortals: Daoist Art in the Cincinnati Art Museum, October 12, 2013 through January 5, 2014. This exhibition of more than seventy-five objects from the Cincinnati Art Museum’s Chinese and Japanese art collection, most never on display before, will enlighten the visitor on the true principles of Daoism and its influence in eastern philosophy by featuring the Eight Immortals.
