2012 Holiday Classes at Brazee Street School of Glass (Closed)

Giving homemade gifts are always things I like to give and I love to get. Particularly things made by my kids. How can I not just love the gifts as much as the kid?……though, this does bring up the memory of the pepto bismal pink plastic purse I got as a birthday present when my daughter was three. I used it until it broke. Let’s just say I never misplaced my purse.  Point learned? Seek out the really cool gift ideas for the kids to give and cherish both the kid and the gift forever. Which is a great segway to talk about Brazee Street Studios School of Glass (SOG).

If you not had the opportunity to visit this amazing place right in the heart of Oakley, then you’ve missed an amazing treasure. Last year, I stopped by and made an absolutely cool glass photo frame. I constructed it using bits of glass pieces that were later melted and fused together. The end product sits proudly on my mantel.  It’s an ooo and ahhhh kind of piece that gets noticed.

Now, the first thing that comes to mind when I heard bits, glass, pieces and kids was ummmmm, this can’t be a place for kids. But it is. It’s a place for kids of all ages and that’s what makes it so wonderful.

As you start to make your gift list out for this year, the SOG has numerous opportunities to help you check items off your list with a smile and a flourish.

Classes, scheduled throughout November and December, are open to the public and available for both children and adults. Offerings include “Make + Bake” sessions featuring glass blowing, jewelry making and glass gift making for adults as well as classes for children comprised of projects such as self-portraits, night lights and ornaments.

Dedicated to exposing artists of all levers to the creative possibilities in glass, education is primary to the mission of Brazee Street Studios.  Classes in kilnforming, glass blowing, casting, and more are offered for students of all ages and ability levels.

Classes vary in cost, ranging from $15 – $125, depending on the class and project selected. To register, or for more information and to view a complete schedule of classes being offered, visit www.brazeestreetstudios.com or call (513) 321-0206. Brazee Street school of Glass is located at 4426 Brazee St in Oakley. Parking is located behind the building.

What’s great is that classes are offered at various times and days, so be sure to look over the complete list to see what you’d like to sign either yourself or your kids up for.  We’re GIVING AWAY a $15 Gift Certificate to one lucky reader. This can either cover the cost of an ornament or you can apply it towards a larger project.

The giveaway runs today and ends at 11am on Monday, November 26 (If you’re the winner, this gives you time to attend the 11/27  evening ornament class).

I’ve made the small bowl at one of Brazee’s Make & Bake sessions and it turned out great. I would love to make a picture frame to give my daughter for Christmas. Since she is very interested in the arts she would really enjoy receiving something “homemade” for Christmas!

Brazee Street came to our library a few years ago, and we made a wonderful tile. I would live to check out their studio.
