What's Up This Weekend

Another Friday is upon us.  I don’t know about you guys but I feel like these weeks are just flying by. I mean the holidays are about to be in full swing and I feel like summer vacation just ended yesterday!

Well never fear, there’s lots to to this weekend!

Holiday in Lights – On Friday, November 20 Holiday In Lights opens in Sharon Woods. This drive through light display is always a hit with kids.  Complete details (and $2 off coupon) are available on the Holiday in Lights Web site.

  • Nov. 22 – Holiday 5K Family Fun Run & Walk Enjoy Holiday in Lights as you and your family see the beautiful display on foot. Get lots of fun holiday goodies – commemorative ornament, Santa sack full of coupons, t-shirt, photo with Santa and ticket to drive through the light festival.  Registration at 3:30pm and race starts at 5pm. Holidays on the Hill– Running November 20 – January 1, the light display at the Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park in Hamilton will feature more than 1 million lights! The display often is voted best light show. You can learn more about the display and find information on hours, directions, etc. on the Pyramid Hill web site.


Northern Kentucky Early Childhood Literacy Fair – Saturday 2:30 – 4:00 pm at the Covington library. Event includes concerts by Zak Morgan (12:30 pm) and Thaddeus Rex (3:30 pm) along with face painting, and balloon animals! Details here .


Holiday Affair on the SquareHoliday Affair on the Square kicks off the holidays in Middletown. The stage at Governor’s Square Park will host performances by local musicians starting at 5 p.m., and at 6p.m. officials will light the city’s tree. 2009 Holiday Floral Show – Lucia’s Garden at Krohn Conservatory begins November 21st and runs until January 3rd.


Balluminaria – This awesome hot air balloon festival takes place at Eden Park on Saturday the 21st from 4pm until 6pm. All of the balloons will be lit up beautifully.  Santa will be there! You can call 513-352-4080 for more information. Don’t forget your camera!


Christkindlmarkt – The Germania Society presents the 12th Annual Christkindlmarkt Nov. 20th through Nov. 22nd at Germania Park. There will be lots of entertainment, including yummy German food, beer, and fun things for the kids. You can call 513-742-0060 for more information.


Monster Truck Championships & Thrill Show Nov. 20-21 – Cincinnati Gardens – Tickets range from $5-20. See Bigfoot. 2250 Seymour Ave. 513-631-7793.

Where the Wild Things Are Wild Rumpus Party – Nov. 21 – Visit Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Rookwood for a scavenger hunt, craft station, costume contest, book reading and more.  10am, 1pm & 3pm – Space is limited so please call 513-396-8960 to reserve your spot. 2692 Madison Rd. www.josephbeth.com.


Nov. 21 – Jan. 3 – Holiday Junction Cincinnati Museum Center – See a holiday miniature train display. Don’t forget to stop by Toys Through Time display. 513-287-7041.


Christmas on the Plaza – Nov. 21 – FREE – 10am-6pm – Monroe, Ohio. Go to Church St. and also in parking lot of the City Building.  More info 513-850-1954.


Community Open House – Nov. 21 –  See Cincinnati’s Children’s Newest Pediatric Medical Facility – 10am-2pm – Tours, refreshments and activities for families. 3430 Burnet Ave (next to the Post Office). Opens in mid-December for patient care.


Latin American Culture Fest – Nov. 21-22 – Cincinnati Museum Center FREE – Noon-5pm – events in the Rotunda (admission charged if you visit a museum). 513-287-7000.
Thansgiving Crafts – Nov. 21-22 – Sharon Woods Sharon Center 1 – 4pm; Farbach-Werner Ellenwood Nature Preserve Barn 1-4pm. These will be free or request a very minimal donation (think 50 cents). Hamilton County Parks
